Now Enrolling: Sankofa's Registered Apprenticeship and Heavy Equipment Training

Sankofa Builders Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to training and workforce growth in construction. Our mission is simple: create real pathways into the trades for people who have been left out of them, and give tradesmen the skills, credentials, and support to reach economic self-sufficiency.

Applications are open now for two programs.

USDOL-Registered Apprenticeship Program

A Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven career pathway validated by the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship. Apprentices are paid from day one, receive progressive wage increases as their skills grow, and finish with a portable, nationally recognized credential.

The Sankofa Construction Apprenticeship Program runs four years, with 8,000 hours of on-the-job learning supplemented by a minimum of 576 hours of related classroom instruction. Training covers the principles of construction, equipment knowledge and operation, materials, site preparation, maintenance, and OSHA safety, with tracks in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work.

Heavy Equipment Training Program

Hands-on training on backhoes and bobcats, plus land grading, laser usage, and OSHA 30 compliance — the skills that get you onto a jobsite and keep you safe once you are there.
