WHAT IS REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP?
Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers
can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, receive progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential. Registered Apprenticeships are industry-vetted and approved and validated by the U.S. Department of Labor , Office of Apprenticeship.
Description Of Program
The Sankofa Construction Apprenticeship Program emphasizes the principles of construction, equipment knowledge and operation, materials, site preparation, maintenance and OSHA safety. Sankofa Construction, LLC sponsors a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship (Program No. 2024-NJ-127946) covering three occupations:
Carpenter - 4-year term, 8,000 hours of on-the-job learning and 576 hours of related instruction. Wage progression: $17.35, $19.00, $21.00 and $24.00 per hour; journeyworker rate $35.00.
Construction Craft Laborer - 2-year term, 4,000 hours of on-the-job learning and 288 hours of related instruction. Wage progression: $16.00 and $17.00 per hour; journeyworker rate $18.00.
Operating Engineer, Heavy Equipment - 2-year term, 4,000 hours of on-the-job learning and 288 hours of related instruction. Wage progression: $18.00 and $19.00 per hour; journeyworker rate $32.00.
All three occupations are time-based programs trained at a 1:1 apprentice-to-journeyworker ratio.

THE ONLINE COURSE
All 576 hours of related instruction are now online - 17 units, the class schedule, the unit assessments and a printable training record. Read ahead, review a unit before an assessment, and study from a phone or a laptop.
