WHAT IS REGISGTERED APPRENTICESHIP?
Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers
can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, receive progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential. Registered Apprenticeships are industry-vetted and approved and validated by the U.S. Department of Labor , Office of Apprenticeship.
Description Of Program
The Sankofa Construction Apprenticeship Program emphasize the principles of construction, equipment knowledge and operation, materials, site preparation, maintenance and OSHA safety. The term of the apprenticeship is 4 years with an OJL attainment of 8000 hours, supplemented by the minimum required 576 hours of related instruction. There is a $XXX application fee (money order only).
To enroll, an applicant must meet the following minimum requirements:

An apprentice must be at least 16 years of age, except where a higher age is required by law

A high school diploma is not required but some high school is required

Applicants will be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.

Able to lift a minimum of 60lbs.
