A recent statewide disparity study in New Jersey highlights significant challenges in achieving equity for Black-owned businesses and other minority-owned enterprises in the construction industry. The study, commissioned by the Murphy administration, found that despite minority-owned businesses constituting nearly 28% of available construction firms, they were awarded only 3.69% of the prime construction contracts from 2015 to 2020.
