Apprenticeship & Trades Training at Sankofa Builders

Sankofa Builders Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to training and workforce growth in construction. Through outreach, training, and community development, we work to empower tradesmen and create real pathways to economic self-sufficiency — and to strengthen minority representation across the industry.

USDOL-Registered Apprenticeship Program

Our apprenticeship is a four-year, U.S. Department of Labor registered program totaling 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and related instruction. Apprentices build skills across the core building trades:

• Carpentry

• Masonry

• Plumbing

• Electrical work

Heavy Equipment Training Program

For trainees who want to run machinery on the job site, our heavy equipment program covers:

• Backhoe operation

• Bobcat operation

• Land grading

• Laser usage and site layout

• OSHA 30 safety compliance

Beyond the classroom

Training is only part of the picture. We publish construction training books and educational resources, and we partner with nonprofits, contractors, and local governments so that the people we train have somewhere to go when they finish.
